With that in mind, it is best to choose a variety of skills that you will be using to level up your different attributes. It does not matter if Long Blade is a major, minor, or miscellaneous skill, you will still be able to increase strength by five. For example, if you increase Long Blade ten times, you will be able to increase Strength by five points when you level up. The amount that a chosen attribute increases is determined by what skills you have leveled up.

When you level up, you must choose three attributes to increase. Each skill has a governing attribute: Long Blade has Strength, Marksman has Agility, etc. Miscellaneous skills do not contribute to leveling. Every time your Major/minor skills increase by ten points total, you level up. You level up by increasing your Major and minor skills, which are chosen when you create a class.
